Check Out The Fierce, Speakeasy Tiger And Their New Single “Oil Rising”

A friend of mine recently told me about this really awesome band called Speakeasy Tiger. They’re a fresh pop band from Denver, Colorado that is sure to make you get up and dance. The band consists of Kyle Simmons on vocals and rhythm guitar, Travis Alley on lead guitar, Lucas Gordon pounding on drums, Lauren Gale killin’ it on bass, and last but not least the classically trained Pete Schmidt on keytar, synths, piano.

At first, I was skeptical about them because I’m usually not a big fan of female vocalists, but when I listened to their new single “Oil Rising” my jaw dropped! The vocalist Kyle Simmons, really has some pipes! Her voice is very different than most other female singers I have heard. She has a very deep and rich voice that falls right between the normal lines of soprano and alto. It’s really one of those voices that can only be best described by listening. Simmons is extremely expressive with her voice and can jump from a soft coo to a thundering cry smoothly from one phrase to the next. But that isn’t to say that Simmons is the only thing going for Speakeasy Tiger either. The band does a wonderful job breaking away from the standard subordinate pop piggyback music, and instead provides great ambience and energy to their songs. They really add to the music rather than just provide filler behind the singer. This group defiantly projects themselves through their music and will without a doubt make your body move and have their songs stuck in your head for days.

If you like pop at all or just want something new to listen to, I definitely recommend heading over to their myspace to give them a listen. From there you can download their new single “Oil Rising” for free and trust me, you won’t regret it! Also, Speakeasy Tiger is also playing on Warped Tour this summer and definitely should not be missed, that is if you’re lucky enough to catch one of the eight dates they’ve got scheduled.
