Danger Mouse to release a blank CD. Will it work?

I special hat-tip to The Zone @ 91.3 and BBC News for this.

Have you heard? Apparently downloading music these days is so common that even the artists are taking it in to account. Oh come on, you know you’ve done it at least once, you know, just so happened to download a song or two off of LimeWire or Kazaa (maybe Torrents?). And don’t get me wrong, I like attributing credit where credit is due as well, artists deserve their moneyzz, but seriously, it’s so damn easy to just download stuff.

Anyways, after the famed Danger Mouse and his label, EMI, had some legal issues with the new album, Dark Night Of The Soul, it was dropped by the label. So, after not being too happy about not releasing his album, Danger Mouse decided that he still wanted his fans to hear his new stuff, as he was pretty proud of it. So, being aware of the current internet pirating happening so easily around the world, he was apt to just upload the new album to all the P2P programs and sites, and promptly release a blank burnable CD-R, because he figured that people would just steal it anyways, so why not?

I think this is ingenius! I would fo sho buy the blank CD so I could burn his music to it.

Awesome idea, mang!
