So, are we all excited for Transformers 2, or what? I know I am. One of the things that Transformers seems to do is have Linkin Park do their main theme song. Last time it was What I’ve Done, this time it’s New Divide.
I don’t know about you, but when I first heard this song, it sounded exactly like something off of their last album; in fact, it even kind of simply reminds me of What I’ve Done, itself. I’m finding that Linkin Park is starting to have a generic, repetitive sound nowadays, in my opinion. Nonetheless, this song has grown on me since.
Now, the nitty gritty: Chester Bennington has one helluva voice, I’ll admit, and New Divide really shows his versatility of going between scruffyness to soft vocals. His vox almost sound like they’re recorded in an echoing room, if you listen close. I like the riffs, drums, and vocals, in general. There wasn’t as much electronic sound coming from Joe Hahn this time — I know there’s that one part in the middle, but other than that it’s pretty much a repetitive beat. And whatever happened to Mike Shinoda? Nothing from him this time, I guess.
Well, that about wraps it up. There’s quite obviously that sound that comes back every now and then in Linkin Park’s music, but nonnethless, it’s still a super song.
