Legalize Gay — American Apparel
Trendy LA-based clothing company American Apparel is trying to literally make a fashion statement with one of it’s products that is now out in their new line of spring clothing. The new shirt, coming in all sorts of wonderful colours, sports the phrase “Legalize Gay”, trying to combat California’s decision to ban same-sex marriages.
In the fall of 2008, Proposition 8 passed in California, striking down the legalization of same-sex marriage. Now the decision rests in the hands of California’s Supreme Court, with state lawmakers declaring the vote unconstitutional. Equal rights for all – repeal Prop 8.
I think it’s an awesome idea! If people want to have a public gay/lesbian marriage, it should be completely legal. Of course this doesn’t apply here in British Columbia, but it’s still a lovely shirt that I think everyone should have.
