Meant specifically for the folks of Vancouver Island and the Vancouver area in BC (although others feel free to hit them up!!), I’m really pleased to introduce you to a very localized alternative music scene web zine based in the heart of Victoria.
May I please have an applause for SEVENTYTIMES7! Simply put, 70×7 interviews all bands that are throughout and roaming the Victoria (and Vancouver Island) music scene.
We’ve all been there, ending up at a show alone and not knowing one single person there. It’s lame isn’t it! Or how about showing up to a show all stoked to sing along to your favorite local band just to end up in a room of people standing around, gently tapping their feet? It’s even more lame right! SEVENTYTIMES7 is dedicated to putting the music back in the local Victoria “alternative” scene and trying to make this scene more like a community.
They’ve interviewed many local [BC] bands, such as On Call Heroes (here), Unicron (here), Living With Lions (here), and The Perfect Trend (here), and they are planning to have many more soon to come. Or so we hope! Along with interviews, they also have photos, local band bios, up and coming events with venue locations, and the latest local music news! But I’ll have to say, the coolest part is it’s run by really cool people who are actually in to the Victoria scene. Not just someone looking for a small spotlight to shine upon them.
